So called transitions among reptiles

Turtles

Scutosaurus

"mid-Permian"

dinosaurs- scutosaurus karpinski

Here is a complete skeleton. Its skull does have the general shape of a turtle but that is about it. It has the bony plates in the skin that are evolutionists relate a shell, but this is guess work.

Deltavjatia

"Permian"

New Page 2

Here is a good fossil of Deltavjatia. While the skull is some what turtle like, the vertebrae projections have no resemblance to a shell. There is no evidence that these are related to the skin plates of Scutosaurus.

Proganochelys

"late Triassic"

What we have here is a variety of turtle. There is a total lack of any progression to a shell, from vertebrae projections of the Deltavjatia. Just POOF instant shell.

Some species-to-species transitions:

Styracosaurus and Pachyrhinosaurus

Pachyrhinosaurus

Clearly the same kindof animal. Pachyrhinosaurus seem to be a degenerative form of Styracosaurus that has lost the genetic information to produce a horn.

Lambeosaurus and Hypacrosaurus.

Hypacrosaurus.

Clearly the same kind of animal. The main difference seems to be the size of the head peace.

Stegoceras and Pachycephalosaurus

Stegoceras and Pachycephalosaurus are of the same  family. Since animals of the same  family are often the same kind of animal these are just varieties of Pachycephalosauria.

Tyrannosaurus and Daspletosaurus.

The main differences seem to be in the length of the front limbs and some differences in the skull morphology. However they are similar enough that they are clearly the same kind of animal.
