The Mississippi river delta is growing larger as sediment is deposited at a rate of 80,000 tons / years. Estimated age by uniformitarian assumption is about 30,000 years. However this date is based on the assumption that the rate of deposited has been roughly constant for 30,000 years. This means that both the flow rate and erosion rates of the Mississippi river have been constant.
If most of the delta had been formed during the run off of the flood, both the flow rate and erosion rate would have been increased by water moving over still soft sentiment, with no trees or grass to hinder it and a larger amount of water. The result is that the deposition rate would be increased dramatically possibly for years after the flood.
