Embryonic Stars Emerge from Interstellar "Eggs"

M16 also called the Eagle Nebula is claimed to be a star forming region. This picture was taken on April 1, 1995, by the Hubble Space Telescope. The tallest pillar is about 4 light years long.

The Hubble image does show evaporating gaseous globules referred to as EGGs. They are dense pockets of gas separated from the pillars, alleged to be forming stars. The claim; that these gaseous globules are forming stars; is a purely Evolutionary interpretation. There is no real evidence of new stars, none of these pockets have ignited to form new stars and are probably just pockets of gas. Similar objects can be found in the Orion Nebula.

Astronomers also claim to have seen protostars. One example is L1551. The stars of this double system are labeled as protostars. The problem is that they are known to have out flowing jets of gas. It was expected that the material would be seen falling into the stars not shooting out them. So the stars are loosing material not gaining it as would be expected. This system looks more like a dying binary system rather than one being born and the outflow jet might also explain the nebula around the stars. These objects could also belong to a separate class of objects, like brown dwarfs.

The key to this issue is the fact that just because a scientist labels an object as a particular thing, it dose not mean that it is that thing. Labels such as "protostars" are just that, labels. A label is just an interpretation by a scientist. Some times the interpretation is based on observed facts but they are often based only on theory.
